Which universities are on Tyco International’s recruiting calendar this year?
Please see the On Campus Events section of this website for a detailed list of campus activities and events.

What if my school isn't listed, can I attend any event?
Unfortunately, no. Most career centers require students who participate in on-campus activities and events to be enrolled as a student. We recommend that you review our college recruiting page to apply for employment opportunities.

What if I missed an event at my school?
If you happen to miss an event, we recommend you check with your career center to obtain contact information of recruiters who visited your college.

How can I find out when they are coming to my school?
The best way to learn if Tyco International will visit your university is to check with your school's Career Services Office, which can provide you with dates and information on our recruiting process. For a listing of locations and dates when Tyco International will recruit at colleges and universities, please view our On Campus Events calendar.

What if Tyco International is not making a campus visit to my university?
Although we may not be visiting your campus during our fall or spring recruiting campaigns, you may still apply for an intern or co-op position posted in our University Relations section.

Can I submit my information without applying for a position?

When does Tyco International accept resumes for intern and co-op positions?
Resumes for intern and co-op positions are accepted on an ongoing basis depending on the current openings that exist for these positions. For the universities at which Tyco recruits, please check with your Career Services Office for more detailed information.

How do I apply for a position?
Intern and co-op assignments are posted at select universities as well as the Entry Level Opportunities section of this web site. Most positions are posted on our web site until the position has been filled. Students attending the schools listed on our campus recruiting calendar should contact their campus career centers on how to apply.

May international students apply?
International students are eligible to apply if they meet the criteria required of all intern or co-op applicants (as noted above) including being legally entitled to work and earn money in the United States. It is the student's responsibility to obtain the appropriate visa, if applicable. As required by current immigration law, an offer of employment is contingent upon the student’s ability to provide the appropriate documentation showing proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

Will I be contacted once I submit a resume?
If you apply for a position on the Tyco International web site, an e-mail notification will be sent to you confirming that your resume has been received. No further communication will be made with you unless you are identified as a candidate of interest. Qualified candidates of interest will be contacted directly by a Tyco International recruiter or hiring manager.

How does the selection process work?
Resumes are reviewed by Tyco International recruiters and hiring managers. First round phone or on-campus interviews are conducted with selected candidates, and second round on-site interviews may be scheduled. Intern assignments may start at anytime during the year and vary in length, however, most Intern assignments will start in May/June.

What is the difference between an intern and a co-op assignment?
Intern: Internships are for the purpose of providing college students with challenging experiences relevant to their fields of study. An internship is a paid assignment for a student who has attained at least some academic preparation in a professional field. An intern may be an undergraduate, graduate or Ph.D. working in a professional setting under the supervision of at least one practicing professional. Assignments are typically full-time for 10-12 weeks.

Co-op: A cooperative education (co-op) experience is generally completed by a student over more than one semester. It includes work assignments related to the participant's academic and career interests. Successfully completed co-ops may involve some sort of academic credit.

Do you offer internships for both undergraduate and graduate students?
Yes, Tyco International offers internships to students pursuing both undergraduate and graduate degrees. Candidates must have work authorization for the country or countries in which they are interested and must be fluent in the spoken language of those countries.

What departments at Tyco International offer intern or co-op opportunities?
The following business functions typically participate each year in Tyco International’s Internship Program: Engineering, Information Systems, Marketing, Business, Accounting and Finance, Manufacturing, Quality and Human Resources. Department participation varies depending upon current business requirements.

In which cities does Tyco offer internships and co-op opportunities?

When do interns or co-ops start work?
Intern assignments are generally available during the summer months, starting in May or June and ending in August or September. Co-op opportunities may start at anytime of the year, however, most follow the academic calendar of a university.

What is the duration of an internship/co-op?
Tyco International intern assignments are typically 10 to 12 weeks, allowing ample time to complete a substantial project and make a significant contribution to our organization. Tyco International co-op assignments are generally six months in duration, allowing students to work on potentially multiple projects, while providing the opportunity to make a significant contribution to Tyco International.

Does Tyco International provide an intern and co-op orientation?
If selected to join the intern or co-op programs, candidates will receive a welcome packet and offer letter from Tyco International. This information will confirm the student’s start date and details on what to expect on the first day. Interns and co-ops also receive a special orientation presentation.

What would my summer experience at Tyco International be like?
Tyco International interns and co-ops are invited to learn as much as they can about Tyco International values, organizational structure, and business drivers. We also provide many opportunities to establish a network among fellow interns/co-op students and within the Tyco International community. Typical summer activities may include lunch and learning sessions with company executives, skill building sessions, intern-only lunch, community service, and occasional outside social activities which though not required are generally found to be of value to those who attend from a networking perspective.

Are interns and co-ops paid?
Tyco International pays a competitive wage to an intern or co-op based on discipline, completed years of education, and previous experience. Our salary guidelines are reviewed annually for competitiveness within the industry.

Do interns and co-ops receive benefits?
Interns and co-ops are not eligible for traditional employee benefits such as healthcare plans or a 401k programs. However, Tyco International interns and co-ops are currently eligible to attend corporate events and participate in training courses. Company holidays are paid for interns and co-ops. Many Tyco International sites provide company-subsidized cafeterias, as well as access to the fitness center; interns and co-ops may benefit from both. Tyco International sponsored events and offerings may vary by location.

Will relocation assistance be provided?
Relocation benefits or housing assistance may be offered to those students meeting applicable company and IRS guidelines. Eligibility is based upon the student’s summer/permanent residence and its location relative to the work site. More detailed information is provided at the time of offer.

Can I get course credit for participating in the Internship or Co-op program?
Whether or not you receive course credit depends on your school’s policy. Some schools have formal co-op programs in which students must submit papers and a final report to receive credits. Other schools with less formal co-op programs review student requests for credit on a case-by-case basis. Please check with your Career Services Office or your Academic Advisor to determine your options.

What is the dress code?
Although the dress code may vary slightly between Tyco International locations, business casual attire is generally considered appropriate, as long as work assignments do not require traditional business attire.
